By not sucking.
Seriously. If the employees think that locking themselves up in the bathroom is preferable to being in the office, it’s not because there’s something wrong with them. It’s because there’s something horribly wrong with the work culture in the company.
I’ve actually talked to people who did this. One guy told me he would take bathroom breaks every day, reading on his phone and even taking naps. When I heard that, I immediately knew I wouldn’t want to work for that company.
When people do stuff like that, it’s because they feel that their bosses don’t trust them. That it will look bad if they’re seen slacking during work hours.
Smart companies don’t care what their employees do during work hours as long as they produce results and don’t violate any obvious rules. When companies give their employees freedom and a relaxed working atmosphere, they get motivated employees and good results.
