Everyone is stupid and wrong.

I heard that advice throughout my dating life.

“Don’t text him first or he’ll think you’re desperate.”

“If he waited an hour to text you back, you better wait two.”

“No! You can’t ask him out! He’ll think you’re easy or weird and reject you!”

“Don’t tell him you like him, wait for him to figure it out.”

You know what happened when I followed that advice? Nothing.

Literally everyone is insecure and stupid. Hinting that you like someone doesn’t work, they’ll assume you don’t. Not texting someone for three days is going to make them think you don’t like them, it won’t make them think you’re mysterious and alluring. Waiting for him to ask you out means there’s a 90% chance you guys will never go out because you’ll both be too scared to tell each other how you feel.

Don’t play games. Ask them out. Tell them you like them. Be upfront and honest about how you feel. Better to shoot your shot and know for sure rather than wait around for someone to be less of a coward than you are.
