Why don’t men act protective and loving, or chivalrous, towards women anymore, and act like they hate women instead?

The biggest reason that chivalry(gentlemanliness) is dead is because the modern woman has completely killed it. When I say this, I don’t mean that she walked up to it, shot in the head with a gun, and dropped to the ground as she walked away. No, what most modern women have done (thanks to modern feminism), is walked up to chivalry, shot in the abdomen with a sawed-off shotgun, and are now standing over it, laughing at it, and prodding it with the shotgun while it twitches and spasms in agony.

Much like a few of the other gentlemen here have answered with their replies, I too was raised to be polite, kind, helpful, and courteous. I was raised this way because my parents believed this was what the world needed more of. Because of this, I treat everyone with respect – men and women alike. But I notice that unlike men, women not only expect it – they demand it. Failure to give them the respect that they feel they are entitled to make you a misogynist, a woman hater, a rape apologist, and a whole host of other unsavory labels.

One afternoon I was walking toward the exit of a mall I have been working in and saw a young woman loaded up with bags, which indicated she had done a great deal of shopping that afternoon. When I offered to get the door for her, her response was not “okay, thanks” or “no, I got it”; her response was “I already have a f*cking boyfriend, loser!”. Naturally, I stopped, looked at this woman, let out a sigh, and walked away; leaving her to her own devices. So, when we try to help, we’re greeted with a whole host of toxic misandry more often than not.

Just last month, I was leaving my bank and had exited the door as a young woman was approaching the building to enter. Rather than pause and hold the door open for her, I simply kept walking and let the door close on its own. Once she reached the door, she looked over her shoulder at me and replied, in a rather catty tone, “yeah, thanks for holding the door for me asshole.”. I spun around with a smile and quickly replied, “oh my dear girl the last thing I wanted to do was hold the door open for you and make you feel like I was dis-empowering you by preventing you from exercising your ability to open that door for yourself.”. She and her friend both looked at the shirt she was wearing, a black shirt with the word ‘feminist’ emblazoned in hot pink letters, she turned to her friend, and said “that’s it, when I get home burning this damned shirt!”

Another reason that chivalry is all but forgotten is that common courtesy is almost no longer existent. I was at the grocery store behind an older woman (probably mid-60s to early 70s) who set her wallet down and was acting like she was about to walk away without it. My first reaction to this situation was to say, “excuse me ma’am, don’t forget your wallet.”. She stopped, looked at me, and in a very haughty and distasteful tone asked me, “how ever did I managed to survive this long without you?”. My immediate response? “I want you to remember that question next time you do forget your purse in a shopping cart and then find yourself asking how come nobody had the common courtesy to say anything to you about it. This is why.”

Instances like these are not only becoming more and more common, but they are also why so many of us men walk away from women when we see them struggling with anything. We won’t help, we won’t get involved, we won’t protect you (from criticism), we won’t speak on your behalf, and certainly won’t do any manual labor for you. We were just trying to be nice, and you just assumed we were only doing this because we wanted to sleep with you. When you look at it like that, I think it speaks volumes about the character of today’s women. I know, I wouldn’t want to be around someone like this – and neither would most of the men out there
